Mr Sin
It has almost reached a year since my last blog post. My lack of internet access, muses and time have caused a substantial hindrance to contributing to Madness and Extravagance. I digress. I’ve been really getting into the history of Kings Cross, seeing as though my living quarters/shoebox are pretty much in the thick of it. I actually love Kings Cross. Walking to work is pure entertainment. Every hooker has her piece of pavement and her signature look from 10am every morning. Spice is pumping from Kings Cross Hotel. Porky’s is still open. Aboriginals with no shirts, bottle in hand who hiss “don’t be scared of the darkness”. Homos are mincing through the hysteria, fitness first backpacks faaabulously newww dahhhling. Then there is the standard junkies, homeless and teeth less from Wayside Chapel. It is unbelievable the line where KX turns into Potts Point. Instantly, the stench is gone the homo population increases ten fold, cocktails become $17 and you can buy diamante collars for your pooch. Amazing. So this is KX today oh so very briefly.
What will follow in my next few posts will be the interesting and valid history of the cross to me. Which well known buildings still reside and what criminal acts have been divulged through research. One character I am particularly interested in is Abe Saffron. I am yet to find out, but I know that he is some how related to a cousin of mine. In short Abe was one of Australia’s most powerful crime figures between the 40s and 60s. My research has begun, and I have already discovered some interesting things…coming soon.
